Dental Trauma and its managementDescriptionDescription: In this specialist-led session, learners will be introduced to the diagnosis, prognosis and management of dental trauma including a hands-on splinting practical in our simulation suite.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session students will be able to: • Understand the different management procedures for different trauma diagnoses. • Demonstrate hands on techniques for splinting. • Actively contribute to case discussions for trauma planning.
Management of Tooth Surface LossDescriptionDescription: This specialist-led one day course focuses on current concepts surrounding tooth surface loss from diagnosis to treatment with hands on practical teaching. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session students will be able to: • Understand the aetiology and diagnosis of tooth surface loss and the multifactorial nature • Clinically differentiate between physiological and pathological tooth surface loss • Understand and be able to apply the Dahl concept in Tooth Surface Loss management • Understand the limitations of the published methods of monitoring tooth surface loss • Understand the simple restorative (non-destructive) options available to monitor tooth surface loss • Understand the concepts of occlusal reorganisation, occlusal vertical dimension, biological width and crown lengthening surgery • Undertake a practical exercise to build up several anterior teeth and a posterior tooth with simulated tooth surface loss
Removeable Prosthodontics – Partial DenturesDescriptionDescription: In this specialist-led partial denture session, learners will be introduced to the rationale, stages and techniques involved in partial denture construction as well as the various types of partial dentures. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, students will be able to: • Articulate the indications for replacing missing teeth with a removable partial denture. • Describe the stages in partial denture construction. • Explain what types of partial denture are available, and their indications. e.g. two-part dentures, use of precision attachments, milled crowns etc. • Describe when to use more specialised impression techniques e.g. altered cast, pick up impressions.
