The Peninsula Medical Foundation is the independent charitable arm of Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.
Donations received will support medical research and training. Currently the PMF have a strong focus on raising funds for a PhD studentship in brain tumour research and to purchase cutting edge equipment for the new Derriford Research Facility, which will house critical research into cancers, neurodegenerative diseases and infection, inflammation and immunity.
The Peninsula Medical Foundation is the independent charitable arm of Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPSMD).
While relatively new, PUPSMD is making headway. Its research output in clinical medicine is ranked top in the UK, with 80% of the research classed as ‘significant’ or ‘world-leading’. The partnership with the charity Brain Tumour Research has led to us having only one of four UK centres of excellence for our research into low-grade brain tumours, led by world-leading expert Professor Oliver Hanemann, and our expertise in dementia has been recognised through our appointment as a partner in the Alzheimer’s Research UK SW network.
With your support we can continue to develop the expertise of the teams. We will support the best PhD researchers through studentships and attract the best international talent through creating a rich environment for research.
