This volume is the second in a series of edited books concerning recent and contemporary culture, social formation, urban change, and critical theory. Each volume brings together established and new researchers from the arts, humanities and social sciences, juxtaposing empirical and theoretical material. The series is originated by the Culture-Theory-Space research group at the University of Plymouth,  Each volume draws on papers from symposia and conferences either arranged by Culture-Theory-Space and its international partners, or in which members of the group have participated. The range is international, but especially European (including post-socialist countries in Eastern Europe and extending to the ex-constituent republics of the Soviet Union).
