User Guide

The University of Plymouth is pleased to welcome you to our Online Store which offers a range of goods and services. For your convenience, we outline below some useful help and guidance to support your online shopping experience.

You will also find some useful tips in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the eStore.

Registering as a customer of the eStore

In order to make a purchase or booking you will firstly be required to create an eStore User Account.

- Once you have selected your Product items, add them to your basket and proceed to the check out. You will then be prompted to Log In/ Register.

- For conferences and events you will be prompted before you add the event to your basket.

- If this is your first visit to the eStore you will be asked to click on the link for new customers. Here you can enter your details and create an account with a new password.

- Please provide as much detail as possible – especially if you are attending one of our conferences or events as this helps us to provide an excellent service to you.

- If you have registered with the eStore before you will then only need to enter your email address and password in the Log In section.

Once this is completed you can then proceed with your purchase/ booking.

Your Details

Your name, contact details and purchase history is kept securely within the eStore. We do not sell or share your personal details to or with anyone externally, but certain products/ services do require staff to share some of your information internally but this will only be when it directly relates to your purchase/ booking.

You retain the responsibility at all times to ensure that your personal details are correct and current, especially in relation to telephone numbers as we may need to contact you if there is a problem with your purchase/ booking.

On occasion we do require Staff and Student I.D numbers. This is for internal purposes only so we can recognise you.

Security

You will notice that the website address (URL) shown in the address bar starts ‘https://' rather than ‘http://'. You will also see an image of a padlock on the address bar. This shows whether a website is secure and if you click on the padlock you can see the security certificates and get advice from Microsoft.

3D Secure Verified By Visa

During your payment you will see a pop-up box and will be prompted to go through the 3D SECURE SYSTEM. This is VERIFIED BY VISA and is an additional layer of security which reduces fraud and secures your payment. You will be asked for a password which you set up with your card provider and it is NOT the 3 digit security code on the back of the card.

Please see the Visa website for information on how the system works and how to set-up a password VERIFIED BY VISA

If in doubt please contact estore@plymouth.ac.uk for advice.

Email Communication

All e-mail communications in and out of the University of Plymouth are scanned and checked for virus infestations. This means that finding contamination will lead to blocking of e-mail transfers in order to safeguard the integrity of the entire system.

Passwords

When you register to use our site, you will be asked to provide an e-mail address and create a password. You must keep this password confidential, and must not disclose it, or share it with anyone. The University holds a secure password file to enable you to request this, should it be forgotten on future transactions.

You remain responsible for all activities and orders that are submitted under your password, but in the event of you knowing or suspecting that your password has been leaked to others, you should immediately log in under your existing password and amend your registration details, or alternatively, contact estore@plymouth.ac.uk quoting “Account at Risk” in the email heading.

The University reserves the right to suspend or cancel a customer registration at our discretion, or if you breach any of the terms and conditions identified within this Policy. The suspension or cancellation of such rights does not affect either party's statutory rights or liabilities.

Internet Usage

Once registered with us, you can log in and out of our service at any time, but we accept no responsibility for any inability to connect due to your own technical problems, any period where essential maintenance is being carried out, or any problems arising on the Internet generally, from external sources.

Obviously we do want to ensure you have a smooth shopping experience so if you are consistently having connection problems please contact estore@plymouth.ac.uk quoting “Connection Problems” in the email heading.

Prices of Products and Services from the On-Line Store

All prices are valid as at the time of ordering, and we cannot accept claims for refunds where prices for like items are available at a lower price at a later date or time.

All prices are inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate unless otherwise stated. As of 1st January 2011 standard rate VAT in the UK increased to 20%. Prices are for the product or service only and any delivery charges will be identified and added separately where applicable.

Acceptance of order

You need to ensure you complete the whole booking/ purchase process. When an order is complete you will see an on-screen confirmation and you will also receive an e-mail receipt confirmation.

You will recieve an email receipt even if you are booking a free product/ event. Please check your spam/ junk inbox as the email might go in there.

If any known problems arise you will either be contacted by telephone or email. You should therefore ensure that your contact details are correct.

Delivery

At present we do not deliver tickets for conferences or events.

Some of the Goods could be sold on the basis that they are collected from University locations. In this instance the collection point will be clearly stated in the product description and you will need to take your email receipt along with you as proof of purchase.

Where delivery applies to your purchase, your confirmation e-mail identifies to our relevant departments that goods are to be sent to the delivery address identified in your order, and this will be arranged during the course of the normal working week.
Should you not receive goods within three weeks of ordering, and have not received an e-mail, please contact estore@plymouth.ac.uk  quoting “Non receipt of goods” in the email heading.

It remains your responsibility, following the placement of an order, to ensure that delivery can be accepted at the location identified. It is sometimes preferable to give a work address for delivery, but if doing so, please ensure that clear delivery instructions are provided within the delivery address fields.

Payment

You can pay for goods and services by Mastercard, Visa Credit and Debit Cards and PayPal. Your card details will be encrypted and only the last four digits will appear on the University of Plymouth systems. Your card details are not held once the transaction is completed, and on subsequent visits, you will need to input card details again. This is for your own security and helps to protect you against card fraud.

Payment in full must be made at the time of placing the order, and any subsequent cancellation of your order will be refunded to the credit of the card used in the transaction.
