We are offering two courses, an introductory and an advanced one.

Introduction to supporting individuals with visible differences

Over one million people in the UK have a significant disfigurement (visible difference) to the face or body. Those affected often experience psychological difficulties associated with anxiety, poor body image, anger and low self-esteem, as well as social difficulties such as staring, name-calling, comments, rejection and unsolicited questions about their appearance.

This 2-day course introduces psychologists and health professionals to the fundamental principles of working with people with appearance-related distress, and will provide you with the knowledge to enable you to better support individuals and signpost to appropriate support services.

The introductory course is delivered twice in 2018, the first time in January and the second time in July, at booking please select when you want to attend.

1st delivery - Date: 8 and 9 January 2018, 09:00 – 17:00

2nd delivery - Date: 4 and 5 July 2018, 09:00 – 17:00

Advanced working with clients with visible difference and/or body image concerns

This 1-day advanced course outlines and considers current and alternative models of care for supporting the needs of individuals with appearance-related distress. This course is specifically designed for psychologists or trainee psychologists or those who have attended the introductory course.

Please note that to enrol onto the advanced course you must have first completed the introductory course.
